The power of imagination

Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.

There is a unique power that is somewhat hidden in every being. Imagination. Imagination can lead us to wondrous ideas, beautiful thoughts, and maybe even reality. Its power increases as we dive deeper into the ocean of creativity. Imagination is our own little world. We can fly, swim, invent, prance and create new people, new places, and much more! But only few are able to understand this power. Imagination is what makes life beautiful. It allows one to see things in an entirely different aspect.

There’s a film called Bridge to Terabithia which is adapted from the novel of the same name. And it perfectly describes what I have written. It showcases the lives of two teenage children who are often ignored or are mocked at in class, and how they create an imaginative world of their own and create magical creatures and beasts like trolls and fairies. It’s all about the power of thinking and how it can become a part of one’s life.

Imagination is nothing but perception and creation. And it can lead to extraordinary things. Let ideas crawl up to your mind and formulate into something beyond the unknown, something that blows up one’s mind!

And these phenomenal ideas can be your future, your destiny and your strength. But, you can never force your mind into imagining something, because then it will not have the same effect of sheer spontaneity.

And I have experienced that.I can never ‘sit down’ or take some time to just write or think. And that is because then I force myself to do so. And that’s the uniqueness of the power of imagination. Unlike other ‘powers’, you can never use this power according to your will. It all comes to you in a fraction of a second. It just ‘strikes’ your mind like a bolt of lightning and then you start developing that idea. And the mystery is, that you never know how that idea came into your head. But you know that it just ‘feels right’ and ‘real’. Take J.K.Rowling for example, she was simply looking at a herd of cows while sitting in a four hours delayed train, when the idea of a wizard boy with spectacles who didn’t know he was a wizard just came into her head. And she still doesn’t know how it just fell into her head, but she knew that very moment that it just felt right. And if it weren’t for this power of imagination, we wouldn’t have any Hogwarts or Harry or Dumbledore! You see, this simple yet mind blowing idea transformed into a phenomenal book series of seven books!

So, wait for the idea to strike your head. And then it is a matter of time before it becomes a huge part of your life.

The power of imagination makes us infinite.
